Hi, I'm Thevindu. I'm a first-year student pursuing a degree in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo (Honours Co-op) โ I started this September on a President's Scholarship of Distinction, which still feels a little unreal to type out. Most of what I do outside of class comes down to the same thing: getting curious about how something works, and then wanting to build my own version of it.
When I'm not in front of a screen, you'll usually find me on a basketball court. There's something about the rhythm of the game โ and the competitiveness โ that clears my head better than almost anything else. Boxing scratches a similar itch, just quieter: it's me, a bag, and whatever energy I walked in with. It's humbling in a way that's hard to explain until you've actually done it.
Coding is where that same restlessness turns into something I can actually point to โ I like taking a vague idea and slowly, stubbornly turning it into something real, bugs and all. And when I want to switch my brain off completely, video games are usually where I end up. Different outlets, same instinct: I like getting better at things, even when nobody's watching.
