About

Hi, I'm Thevindu. I'm a first-year student pursuing a degree in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo (Honours Co-op) โ€” I started this September on a President's Scholarship of Distinction, which still feels a little unreal to type out. Most of what I do outside of class comes down to the same thing: getting curious about how something works, and then wanting to build my own version of it.

When I'm not in front of a screen, you'll usually find me on a basketball court. There's something about the rhythm of the game โ€” and the competitiveness โ€” that clears my head better than almost anything else. Boxing scratches a similar itch, just quieter: it's me, a bag, and whatever energy I walked in with. It's humbling in a way that's hard to explain until you've actually done it.

Coding is where that same restlessness turns into something I can actually point to โ€” I like taking a vague idea and slowly, stubbornly turning it into something real, bugs and all. And when I want to switch my brain off completely, video games are usually where I end up. Different outlets, same instinct: I like getting better at things, even when nobody's watching.

Phantom

Winner โ€” Ignition Hacks 2026

An independent due-diligence layer for forest carbon credits. A carbon credit project writes its own prediction of the forest loss it prevented โ€” Phantom checks that prediction from the outside, matching a project's land against comparable unprotected parcels and measuring what actually happened to them using public satellite records.

Built for Ignition Hacks 2026 (Environment track), sponsored by Render and Base44. Runs entirely on public, keyless data โ€” Sentinel-2 imagery, INPE PRODES, and Global Forest Watch.

Fourth Judge

Machine learning

Three judges score a UFC fight after it happens โ€” Fourth Judge scores it before the opening bell. It predicts every bout on the next UFC card using a model trained on the full history of UFC fights, and explains each pick with real numbers rather than an invented rationale.

Runs entirely offline on your own machine โ€” no accounts, no API keys, no cloud. The hard part wasn't the prediction, it was trusting it: the model is calibrated so a 70% pick actually wins about 70% of the time, and the test suite rebuilds the whole dataset to prove no future information leaks backwards into a past fight.

Zeno

In development

An AI math solver that turns a photo of a problem โ€” or a cropped region of your screen โ€” into a full, step-by-step solution typeset properly with KaTeX. There's a hint mode too, for when you want a nudge rather than the answer. Named after Zeno's paradoxes, since every problem comes apart into infinitely many smaller steps.

Ships as a Chrome side-panel extension backed by a web app. Every AI call is routed through a backend I control, so no API key ever ships inside the extension itself.
